PDS Schemes Detail

The National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 is a landmark Indian legislation that legally entitles up to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population to receive highly subsidized foodgrains under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS).
The following schemes/categories are presently functional under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Himachal Pradesh through the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs
  • National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013:It is a landmark Indian legislation that legally entitles up to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population to receive highly subsidized food grains under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS).
  • NFSA Ration Card Categories: Eligible beneficiaries receive subsidized foodgrains as per NFSA norms. Subsidized Food grain is being provided to the beneficiaries falls under Priority Household (PHH), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration card categories.
  • Other Than NFSA (OTNFSA) Ration Card Categories: Subsidized ration is also being provided to the beneficiaries falls under Above Poverty Line (APL) & Above Poverty Line Tax Payer (APLT) under State policy.
  • One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC): It enables portability of ration benefits for NFSA beneficiaries across India through Aadhaar-enabled ePoS devices.
